Form I-9: DHS guidelines on accepting expired List B documents

Because many areas are under stay-at-home orders due to COVID-19 DHS the U.S. Department of Homeland Security recognizes that employees may experience challenges renewing a state driver’s license, a state ID card, or other List B identity document. Accordingly, DHS announced new guidance for Form I-9 completion, including a temporary policy for accepting expired List B documents in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. To accommodate this new process, GetHired has temporarily altered the functionality of the I-9 form in our system to allow employers to enter expired List B documents. Please note, that per DHS guidelines, this functionality will only apply to documents expiring on or after March 1, 2020.
